Now that the robins and red winged blackbirds have returned from the south, the eagles have left for the north. In recent years we Iowans have loved seeing the bald eagles that come here in winter to feed on the fish in the open rivers and the rodents in the open fields. Ben Franklin may have called our national bird a “dandified vulture,” but in the eagle we see intelligence and strength. The Bible also ascribes vigor to the eagle. In Isaiah 40 we find the marvelous promise: Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,
The Creator of the ends of the earth. His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint And strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary And the young will fall exhausted; But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. It is my prayer for all who worship and serve the Lord at Our Savior Presbyterian, that we would seek the presence of our Lord in all things, and wait upon him to find the strength that does not fail. Pressing on to know Him, Pat Halverson
